While not yet complete, I
am using this to create various templates to test various variables to my design
to see how they affect efficiency. Drawing these templates by hand takes hours and
has accuracy challenges. To increase accuracy and speed my testing, I wrote this
template creator.
Once complete, I’ll put the source
code online as well. It’s a VB.Net application using GDI+ to create a dynamic GIF
file, so it has features beyond the resulting templates that may interest other
developers.
The default settings are a good
start, but play with each setting and see how it affects the resulting template.
The goal is to find the most efficient settings possible. The program is still pretty
limited, for instance to support print resolution I can only generate one quarter
of the template, so I’ve made sure that the track sections always align with the
quarters.
While directions are still lacking,
hopefully clues from the video combined with this tool will lead some to create a working unit.
If you build a Reed Magnetic Motor, report your results please!
